Hi everyone, I’m Danielle, one of Main Street Adventures’ travel agents and newest blogger. So let me start my blogging journey by saying Happy Monday!!

You might be thinking how can Monday be happy, it’s the worst day of the week…back to work, back to responsibility. This Monday, though, we’re talking Disney, and how can talking about Disney not make you happy…am I right? I’m even going to go one step further and talk to you about Walt Disney World during the holidays!!

So let’s get started because summer is winding down, the days are becoming shorter, and back to school supplies are flying off the shelves as I post. This time of year is depressing and one of the few things we have to brighten our spirits right now is dreaming about the holidays. So imagine eerie music, the Sanderson sisters, characters in rare attire, glamorous decor, and pumpkins everywhere to set the scene as your family trick or treats down Main Street.  You’ll gather bags upon bags of candy and even meet Jack Skellington for an extra thrill…and that’s just Disney during the Halloween season! Don’t even get me started on Christmastime, I could go on for days!

To make it brief, though, I’ll just quickly tell you about my own family’s trip to Disney World this past December. Everywhere we looked from Magic Kingdom to Epcot, Animal Kingdom to Hollywood Studios, and all resorts in between were a winter wonderland. Characters in their holiday best, gigantic Christmas trees, garland, music, lights, ornaments, extravagant window displays and gingerbread creations too; a feast for all the senses. We even got snowed on while standing on Main Street during the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party; but we’ll talk more about that in a minute.

First, I’m going to tell you all about the special experiences that are only available for the Holidays at Hollywood Studios, like Minnie’s Seasonal Dine at Hollywood and Vine. Dining with Mickey, Minnie, Daisy and Donald in their holiday finest while munching on Santa Mickey treats and taking pictures with Santa Goofy is something your family will never forget, the way mine won’t. Follow a dinner like that up with the Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam holiday show in front of the Chinese Theater, like we did, and you’ll have the perfect night!

The next day, explore Epcot where you can experience the retelling of holiday histories at each world pavilion. History lessons for the kids while having fun…yes, please! Then witness the joy on your child’s face when they get to meet and take a picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus set before a background only Disney can provide, how special is that! You can even finish your night watching the Candlelight Processional, a live retelling of the Nativity story narrated by a famous celebrity, like Doogie Howser himself.

Over in Animal Kingdom, Mickey and Minnie will be waiting for you in their holiday sweaters with little African touches of Christmas sparkle here and there. After the park closes you can check out Disney Springs, because Disney even gets into the holiday spirit there. At the shopping and dining mecca, your family will have a second opportunity to meet Santa and even walk through the famed Trail of Trees like mine did.  Then head back to the hotels to see the extravagant gingerbread creations, including a full-sized Gingerbread House in the Grand Floridian, where you can literally buy gingerbread treats right out of it.

However, the real magic is over at Magic Kingdom, which is why I saved the best for last. There is nothing more magical or more Disney then Cinderella’s Castle, and at the holidays it’s beauty is on a whole new level. You will look up into the night sky at darkness and watch as Queen Elsa herself stands before the castle and magically transforms it into a beautiful sea of lights. You would think the castle is actually made of ice, so beautiful it takes your breathe away!  Purchase a ticket to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and you will get to stay after the castle lighting for the event of the year! Complimentary hot cocoa and cookie spots, rare character appearances, special party only parades and shows, and the best part…that snow that falls on Main Street!

So that’s a lot to take in, but it’s even more to truly experience…an experience you will never forget. Contact Main Street Adventures today to make sure you will be there for the memories this year!
